    Hi,
Just received mt new Precision M4600 and looking at the front case immediately above the Lid catch - it is bent out slightly.
I don't know if this is deliberate or not - it doesn't look right though.
    Photo attached for comments.

I think so, yes. You may try pressing it inwards, but since it is metal part, I don't think you will succeed. Plastic parts can sometimes be pressed into right position, but I don't think metal parts should stand out like this.

It is damaged. I just looked at my M4600 and it's not like that at all. My ridge/edge around the area in your picture is not airtight fit. If I look straight down, I can see some parts inside. However, at least it's straight and the "fissure" is not very big, I can fit one piece of paper into it, perhaps 2. That's it though.

Have a repair tech come out a fix it, should be a next day thing. Contact dell support - i'm sure they'll make it right.

    Thanks everyone!
I'm waiting on a reply from the supplier - will take it from there.
Better to get them to send a new replacement or have the case changed?
    Opinions?

I don't think it is up to you.
If your display hasn't got any dead pixels it is better to change the case than to gamble with new display. On the other hand if it has some flaws, you may try to exchange the whole computer...

It is up to him. He could just return the damaged one and order a new one. However, since Dell knows that, they will usually offer to send him a new replacement machine right away.

Nowadays dead pixels are not too common anymore.

I don't know what is Dell return policy, but in some countries ;), if manufacturer/seller wants to repair, not to replace, the buyer cannot refuse.
