    Hi all,

Big decision in what laptop I want to buy (another thread in the what laptop area)

For those who have the M4500 who had a M4400, is it plagued by the following issues:

    1. Severe heat issues. My current M4400 despite new heatsink gunk and fan cleanout, is very hot under the laptop. The fan is usually off until it needs to be on (usually within 15mins of booting in) but then after that, it's spinning until the laptop is turned off. Under the laptop, it is very unfortable and very hot...sometimes actually too hot to touch.

    2. Sound cuts out if another sound application kicks in. For instance, playing music and then setting the volume...the beep to set the volume is enough to cut the music.

    3. The rubbish trackpad.

    Thanks

    1. My M4400 only ran that hot when something was maxing out the CPU, just surfing the net it was fairly cool. Using it on your lap was not uncomfortable, the fan would cycle between it's lowest setting and off. This was with the T9900 in the M4400. My M4500 runs warmer, but it has an i7-820 in it... 45W vs 35W.... It's pretty close to the M4400, not a problem to use it on my lap for surfing, the fan still cycles on/off, but it is warmer than my M4400... I would imagine with one of the 35W cpu's it would behave just like my M4400 did.

    2. I never had this problem with my M4400, nor do I with my M4500...

    3. The trackpad hasn't changed much...
