I have have a quick question for M4600 owners with a measuring tape. Would it be possible for you to measure the depth (front to back) and width of the M4600 and tell me if they match Dell's reported specs? I've seen manufacturers under-report sizes before and just want to double check.

Dell states the size of the M4600 to be Width: 376 mm (14.80 inches) and Depth: 256 mm (10.08 inches).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey man,

I measure: 377mm wide. Depth is 265mm overall since the screen hinge is poking out by maybe 8mm.. Excluding that little hinge i measure 257mm. And it's about 35mm thick

    Hope that helps!

Dell are always "creative" when giving dimensions and weights.

I get 261mm deep, but the same as Dell in width, it's 256 deep if you don't count the hinge, which is the type of thing they get "creative" with, usually the biggest disparity is with thickness, but I don't have a height gauge handy at the moment to tell you what mine is.
I suspect they're not that different to any other manufacturer at shaving off this or that when to comes to quoting sizes and weights

Thanks for the information! It's good to know that Dell's specs are *reasonably* accurate. Now I know what to expect if I order one.

I do agree that manufacturers are fairly creative with the measurements. The weight measurement is one where some of them really stretch the truth with magically low starting weights.
