    So I already posted a question before and now I have another question, I am planning to buy a vostro 1400, but I am stuck as to what screen to choose?
    Should I buy a XGA or XGA+ for $40 more? What is the difference between the two other than better resolution?

    XGA+. You'll regret the little amount of document space you'll have for office apps and web browsing.

    Just be advised, the higher resolution, the smaller everything will appear on your desktop. For my needs, XGA works better than anything higher.

    Yes but you can increase the font size on a high-res screen to make it better readable.

    And you lose the advantage of a high res screen:)

    best thing to do is to compare them side by side yourself, then decide which one you like.

    Yup, that's the way I feel. Plus, although I'm not really a gamer, when I do play games, I get to run them at the native 1280x800.

    yes, when playing, the lesser the resolution, the better.
    and for your eyes too.

    but with xga+ you get more real state which is good.

    you got to check the importance of all factors, including the money difference, and make your desicion.

    XGA = 1024×768
    XGA+ = 1152×864

    I personally like 1920*1200 simply because it suits my media needs better ^^

    Personal preference, yes, which is why people listing objective facts about larger displays being bad is really not accurate.

    There's a sample of the screen real estate difference.

    You'll want to get the larger resolution. Unless your eyes are bad, my opinion is that you should get he highest resolution available (check out my sig lol)
