I have an E6400 running Windows XP, which has been running for about 8 months with no problems. I just started having issues with my Bluetooth. I have a Microsoft notebook 5000 mouse. Recently it hasn’t been connecting to my E6400. I can discover it and then when i try and connect it gives me connection made and asks me to click ok. However, no connection is actually made. I used to be able to turn the mouse off and on and have it connect no problem. Close the screen and open in back up and after a few seconds it would find the mouse. I’ve ruled out the possibility of it being the mouse by trying it on another computer and it works fine. I upgrades to the newest Bluetooth divers on Dells website. However it hasn’t fixed the issue. The only way it will work is if I delete the WIDCOMM Bluetooth device and then reinstall it. The mouse will work until i turn my computer off or close the screen.

Does anyone know of any solutions for me. I did a search and all posts are relatively old. I was wondering if there is anything that’s more up to date.

    Thanks

    Joseph

Side note, I also updated the Audio drivers and WOW what a difference. The speakers done suck anymore. Highly recommend anyone who isn’t happy with their audio to go ahead and upgrade the Audio drivers.

Have you tried a new battery in the mouse?

Regarding audio driver... hard to imagine anything improving the tiny E6400 speakers much. I ditched the IDT driver July '09 because it warbled the sound... maybe you've been suffering through that.

Perhaps reseat the card and antenna connection?

Here are my mouse install notes:

o Turn on notebook BT adapter. Icon should appear in system tray.
o Turn on mouse and depress search button for a few seconds. Mouse should find BT adapter.
o Open BT Control Panel and add wireless device... mouse should appear as available device. Select simple pairing and enter code 0000. Done.

If mouse is already added under BT Control Panel and paired but not working, pairing could be corrupt... delete entry and add device again specifying pairing code 0000.

A full BT uninstall/reinstall ought to address any driver issues. So that leaves hardware faults or external interference.
