    Hey guys I was wondering if the M4600 is a good choice for college.
    Also is the laptop too bulky and thick?

    Have you filled out the FAQ? Without knowing anything else, it's hard to recommend any laptop...

    Well my Acer is 16", about as thick but slightly larger and 7+ lbs, so comparing it to the M4600, I wouldn't mind carrying it around. What is your current laptop? How much traveling will you do?

    I've used a new M4600, IMO not heavier than a M4500. Think of it as your standard 15.6" size but thicker and heavier.

    If you are off to college consider on site service and/or Complete Care (accidental damage).

    i used the M4400 through my college days. similar size and weight. however i did not have to bring it to classes.

    if you dont need gaming power, i suggest getting a portable laptop like a thinkpad X220 and dock it in your dorm with an external monitor

    M4600 is almost 1 inch extra in width compared to 16:10 15.6" laptop. Other parameters like height and depth is the same. It looks big. It will be useful if you use numpad a lot.

    Top = Ordinary 15.6" 16:10 laptop M4400
    Bottom = m4600 15.6" 16:9 laptop. almost 1 inch extra.

    Left = m4600
    Right = M4400. both about the same.

    Left = m4600
    Right = m4400
    Both about the same, however m4600 looks thicker putting on the table because of higher rubber stand it uses.

    Power brick, both about the same
    Left = m4600 180W
    Right = m4400 130W
