Dell seems to have the M4600 ready to order on various sites, and its been 10 days since they officially went on sale, how come there are no reviews out?

Maybe nobody has one to review?

Getting qualfied parts, passing qualification testing, and learning how to mass produce this sort of product is no walk in the park. IIRC, production schedules were pushed back two or three weeks on some M4500 orders.

yea but its the first time i've seen something like this go up for sale before even some pre-production units are sent to journalists, so very curious to see whats going on.

It seems that recently, the only electronics reviewed day of or before release are phones and tablets. Laptops ---unless something gadgety like the Acer Iconia, are left to around the same time as customers get them. I mean the new Latitudes are only just now getting reviews after a month or so after customers got them.

Hm, that is not true. How come that the new Dell XPS 15z got first reviews and has just been released a few days ago...

Another fact that I really do NOT understand is. A forum member just received his M6600. I dont know the policy of Dell here. How come that normal consumers get the machine and reviewers dont?
Well in my opinion Dell (and other companies) lose a lot of revenue here simply because certain undecided buyers (that are looking for a review to backup a purchase) just will not buy or will go with the one of a competitor...

Well but things like that show me that such big companies are run by just normal people that sometimes do not think a whole process till the end. :D

Losing a lot of money here? I don't think so. The forum members here are just small fish -- sorry. Dell salesforce has been busy shoring up corporate buy/lease contracts. Big companies have been briefed about the new line-ups for some months now.

precisely, a lot of tech departments of medium to large companies who are "good" customers receive test samples long before. hence my confusion as to why the heck no review site has managed to get their hands on one/bothered to do a review....its not like they're under embargo....

Hm, I am not sure about that. THink of the guys that get first samples of those machines. They are most of the time guys like us that are interested in tech and are also most likely to be in such forums or any other social web platform.

As a result of that they will do research on their own or at least realize the interest for this machine and probably will do give some information to the web.

As a result you will get (does not mater which country) a information for a hands-on. So this will pop up some where in the web...

As a result. I just do not think that there are any samples. Another fact is that even the sell reps from Dell did not have a clue about this machine before the 10th of May and I am talking about the business sales reps.

So, I have a other opinion here...

No arguments explaining the lack of reviews make sense. For such an important line of PCs its inexcusable not to have review units for the press at the time of launch let alone not 2 weeks after release.

Would be really interesting to see what the Dell-worker Havotex has to say about this...
