I'm about to pull the trigger on a m4600 and the toughest call is what display should I go with.

    FHD IPS, 10bit rbg Led
A bazillion colors and great viewing angles, less than 3hr battery.
    or
FHD TFT, brighter, contrast, decent viewing angles, Optimus.

My request is to get some photos from both IPS and non-IPS m4600 owners.

If anyone wants to participate, pull up this image full screen and take 4 photos from different angles.
    1. Straight On front view
    2. side view about 70°
    3. Top view
    4. Bottom View

Upload your pictures to this thread, and please include any suggestions or comments regarding your experience with either screen so far.

If anyone has issues with uploading images, you can email them to me and I'll put them up, travis.k3 at gmail.com

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit:
Bokeh has some comments on the IPS

They are both FHD, so you can remove that one from the list.

I would also remove the word excellent and replace brightness with "brighter".

You might also say that the brightness on the IPS panel is optimized for photo editing. No one that I know edits on a screen over 140 nits - most use the standard 80 - 120 nits which is common for pre-press work. If you were to edit at 300 nits, every print you made would be dark.

On that same note, is ghosting visible on the IPS display? Has anyone been able to figure out a response time? If any of you are gamers that own the IPS on the 4600 your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey travo -

I bought the IPS panel with the Quadro 1000M - that's a 140 bucks savings compared to the 2000M. Depending on your needs, thats maybe a point where you could save some $$$.
Now regarding the IPS. I have a love/hate relationship with it.
The quality is great - except a color cast left lower corner in green and right lower corner in magenta. - visible when you have an all white image on the screen.
From the reviews that I read the non-IPS display has a considerable problem with screen brightness equality across the frame. The center seems brighter than the other quadrants.
I see no problems with ghosting - also when browsing websites I see no "rainbow" effect that some RGB panels have. I couldn't measure any response times though.
the RGB IPS panel brightness is decent and sufficient - and I agree with bokeh on the problem with contrast and brightness: overly bright and contrasty displays might _look_ good but they don't properly display the images when working in graphics or pre-press.

    To be honest:
if you're not gonna edit photos/videos or do any graphic-work with it - go with the WLED panel - it has 94% sRGB colorspace. That's decent for a WLED panel.
if you do color stuff - RGB-LED is the only way to go :)

I'll upload your test images once I get the chance to take pics...

it's not a light leak as some early adopters have seen, but just a color tint when viewing a white page...
it's noticably better than some have posted - I had my screen replaced once and it got a little better on the right side but slightly worse on the left.
Tech more or less said "I guess that's as good as it gets" - but you can read my full write-up of my support-experience in the Screen Corner Tint thread where I posted my story...
