M4600 users with the IPS screen, if you use the 9 cell battery + additional Modular Bay battery, how many hours of battery life are you getting for simple task like writing text in word or long photo slideshow? ...with 50-75% screen brightness and cpu speed as low as possible, wireless off, sound muted, etc.

I'm also curious what battery life you M4600 owners are getting with just the 9-cell battery. Thanks!

I don't think there is a media bay battery for the M4600. If you are running an true IPS display switchable graphics isn't going to work so you will be running a high end video card all the time which means short battery life for minimal processing. Go with the regular Full HD display and get the Quadro, you should get great battery life for minimal processing.

For M6600, with Optimus and max. battery life settings + WiFi on,

I got 9 hours of battery life reported by Batterybar Pro.

I'm getting about three hours with 9-cell battery on Linux.

    damn,

I was hoping at least 4-5 hours could be squeezed out of a IPS screen'd m4600 on super max power settings w/ at least 50% brightness. Has anyone else besides lman123 tried only word processing w/ 9 cell battery and m4600 ips version with max power savings mode?

Try disabling the CD drive while on battery (which you can do in windows itself...I think...)...should give a boost to battery life...
