    I've found a few performance comparisons giving the edge to the m7820. Why is the nVidia fx2800 priced higher?

    In contrast to ATI, NVIDIA provides pretty good drivers for Linux and FreeBSD as long as it's no "Optimus Technology".
    If you run those OSes you most likely accept a higher price for good drivers.
