I've been searching everywhere and Dell Pro Support is of little help yet (both motherboard and video card have been replaced).

    I have a M6500 with 920XM, 3800M, 8GB 1333, etc., running under Win7 64-bit with the latest video drivers.

In the tune log of AutoCAD it displays I only have 487MB of video memory available. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag.exe), I only have 487MB of video memory, in the video card properties it displays 4.6GB of total available graphics memory and 1GB of dedicated video memory.

Where is this 487mb coming from?

What is everyone else with this M6500 system getting (with Win7 64-bit, regardless of video card type). Dell is telling me this is normal for Win7-64.

    Thanks,

    Jordan

I would say this is normal based on what I am seeing. I have an M6400 with the 3700m and the dxdiag tool is reporting 494MB available. Here is a note from an MS article regarding the dxdiag tool:

DirectX: Description of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool

Note Dxdiag.exe cannot report memory that is in use at the time that it starts. Therefore, it is not uncommon to see less memory reported than your video card actually has.
