I would like to buy a docking station for my Precision M6600. I believe the Dell part number specified is 430-3312. This one appears to come with the correct 210w powersupply brick. However, it is around $180.

My question is, will the Dell docking station (pn 430-3114) for the newer Latitudes and smaller M4500 work? They are all over eBay and appear to be the same docking station but with the smaller 130w power supply. Can I use that docking station and just plug my existing 210w powersupply into it? It is closer to $100 in cost and I don't really need another powersupply anyway.

    Thanks,
    Justin

As long as the socket is the same as the E-Port Plus, then yes.

Yes it will work. The docking connecter on the Precision's are the same as on the Latitude so that you can leverage the same dock, just ensure that you are using a 210W or greater power adapter.

Thanks for the help, guys. You were exactly right.

I bought a docking station for $50 on ebay. Like most of the E-Port plus items on eBay it did not list the M6600 as a supported laptop. It did say that it would work for several Latitude models and previous generation Precision M4X00 and M6X00 laptops. This was Dell part number 430-3114.

I plugged it into my M6600 while the machine was on. It auto detected everything and popped up my external monitor in less than 5 seconds. My existing 210W power brick works with it as expected.

Your advice saved me at least $100-120. Thanks again!
