Looking for recommendations on a quality SSD (around 120GB) for M6600. I have zero experience with SSD so attempting to wrap my head around the plethora of available drives, tech, and connections has literally given me a head ache.

My M6600 is being delivered tomorrow a full 10 days earlier than I expected. I have a free weekend to update and get acquainted with the comp so I want to order & install a new SSD as a boot drive before I load up my programs.

Not sure if it matters but I use Photoshop, Painter, Dreamweaver, Indesign, Fireworks, and 3ds Max daily.

If there is a better alternative to SSD for my needs, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    JohnBoy

All depends on your usage, I don't know if 120GB is enough for all those programs you stated + the other programs you wanted.

Are you looking for speed? SandForce or SATA 3 SSDs (Intel, Crucial). Reliability? Intel or Samsung. I would avoid SandForce entirely unless you are considering their older and proven controllers. Your best bet is Intel 510 series or Crucial's M4 series SSD for SATA 3. If you don't care so much about SATA 3 and want a proven reliable drive, Intel's G2 or 320 series or Samsung's 470 series SSDs.

Thanks for the reply Tsunade. I went with the Crucial M4 128. Reading about Intel SSD 8Mb issues on their latest offerings pushed me to the Crucial. I should use less than half of that drive for all my programs and fonts.
