mouse buttons suddenly misbehaving

it was fine this morning, and suddenly now the left mouse button is acting like a right click. i updated to the latest driver, and checked to see if somehow the settings had changed to make the left button do a right click, but all looks in order.

what next??

edit: ok its not behaving exactly like a right click. if i try to click on something it sort of deactivates the window? i have no idea what its doing
