I'm not sure how common this issue is, but when booting my computer with the default touchpad drivers from Dell, there is a period of a couple seconds where the mouse is unresponsive. As in it kind of moves but doesn't really.

This was getting really annoying recently so I did some debugging work. It occurs as soon as you launch Apoint.exe (in your registry). Simply not running apoint.exe means you can't use multitouch... or middle click (not acceptable).

So the fix i found was disabling the touchcheck feature in
    C:\Program Files\DellTPad\DellTPad.exe

I'm not sure if this is limited to 64 bit OS Windows 7 or even just my laptop. Hopefully this helps somebody out there though.

I have the M4500 btw but this issue might apply to any devices using the multitouch pad from alps
