So, I'm looking for a laptop with a decent screen, good portability, and good battery life (college student...)

I'm between the E5420, 6420, and E6320... Could I get some opinions and reasons to go one way or the other? I'm looking to get the order in before the weekend is over so thank you in advance for a prompt response!

If you insist on Dell, go with E6420 (if you want 14" screen) or E6320 (if you want 13" screen). For me, I would choose neither. I found the current Latitude is ugly. Not really ugly, but less good looking compared to previous generation and it's heavy and it's bulky! Note: I am also a fan of Latitude but not the current generation.

    MY SUGGESTION:
If I were you, 100% I would go with Lenovo T420S. It's 14" screen, thinner, lighter, same business class as Latitude and give the professional look you deserved for buying business class laptop. And they keyboard on Lenovo Thinkpad - you will type faster than you ever thought! The keyboard is the legendary. In addition, it's lighter! In terms of quality, I wouldn't go into detail, both Lenovo Thinkpad and Dell Latitude are probably similar. They are same business class laptop. So you can't go wrong either way.

Another alternative is Sony VAIO S / SA series 13.3".
It's stylish, light, thin. Chicks dig your laptop LOL
Note: I have old Sony VAIO, always turn it on 24/7 in wall outlet, has been running for 3 years and still ok!

Haha, I would love to go with some of those alternatives... But I'm on a pretty firm budget of 600

Stay with mainstream models, the E5420 is the entry-level model. Since your budget is tight, check the Dell Outlet for better deals. The refurbished systems carry the same warranty as new ones.

If you're going to be carrying the laptop around a lot, the 13" model will be noticeably more convenient.
