Not only is 1 TB impossible on a notebook for now, it depends on your notebook. Post here what you have.

Before I can vote, I need to know your notebook uses. If you travel a lot, I'd pick the 9 cell. If you stay at home and download tons of stuff, the 1TB drive. Just note as stated before, that the current 1TB 2.5" drives are 12mm in thickness, while most laptops only take max 9.5mm. If it's for an external enclosure then you also have to take this into account.

Do you really need a 1TB HDD on the go?
Do you travel a lot? or a student that needs his laptop all day?

My vote is on a 9-cell battery. As I see no purpose for a 1TB HDD. I am VERY happy with 160GB running 2 OS on it, all my software and big games, with some music.

To date, i have not come across any 1TB 2'5 HDD you mentioned. If there's such product available, it should be currently priced more than the 9 cell batt.

Storage product price drops more than battery to what i know. With computing products, especially the notebooks/netbooks category of products going thru frequent change, by the time your battery is busted with low capacity, you will either have to pay more for refurbishment or 3rd party batts... in contrast to the price of the storage media you mentioned that may drop over some time.

Wow I could have sworn I said my notebook.

It is a Vostro 1510. And yes, it is a student laptop but I only use it for school hours. I have Ubuntu and Windows 7 installed and only 33GB free. And I cleaned it up but at the end of the year with ISOs of so many IDEs I end up without space almost.

If you don't need the extra battery life, go for the HD space (is this for internal use or external use?). If you worry more about cost and won't move the storage around much, get a 3.5" drive. You can get a 2TB for far cheaper than either. Unless you get the battery off eBay, they typically run around $200, which is a fair amount over the WD 1TB drive.

$200???? Where did you get that figure from??? My 9cell I remember cost about 89 or 110 if Im not mistaken.

Ive decided to go change the battery because now even Windows 7 is complaining that I should consider changing my battery (says there is a problem and my PC might shutdown; It is currently hooked up to the A/C and charging)

What is the P/N for my Dell Vostro 1510 9cell battery? Im going to order it directly from Dell.
