This is extremely strange. Just today, I replaced the front LCD bezel and control switch cover on my D630. It was working fine before, I only replaced those components for aesthetic reasons. However, after putting it back together, I get nothing on the screen at all. When I have it on the docking station (as I do right now, typing this message) I can use the computer just fine through the LCD I have attached.

When I turn on the laptop, I can see the screen illuminate and it does respond to turning the brightness up and down. The brightness will change (so I know the inverter is working), but it's still an all-black display, there is nothing on the screen. I did try reseating the LCD cable, disconnecting the BIOS batter, but still no go.

So, any ideas what I might've goofed up to cause this problem?

Even stranger, I disassembled the bezel and put it back together, and it's fine now. I don't understand this at all, but glad it's working now.

By the way did you have the Nvidia graphics for the D630? They are known to be faulty.

It sounds like an issue with the cable, sometimes it can get pinched by the hinge or bezel/back cover, which will damage the thin wires. It's a cheap fix if it ever gives you more trouble, maybe $10 from eBay.
