    Yes, the Dell 30 is 2560x1600 and regularly shows up in the outlet for MUCH less than $1000. I paid about $750 for it over 2 years ago. 1920x1200 28" monitors are much cheaper at $250 or so but as you say, much less screen real estate.

    Two smaller screens are indeed cheaper.
