I see a lot of e6410s at the outlet have vista installed. Would I need to buy a separate win 7 license to upgrade or could I talk a sales rep into including a dell oem win 7 dvd. I am not sure if the bios is set up to accept either of if it is legal. I only ask since dell doesn't even offer vista anymore for new e6410s and it seems like it would make sense for them to streamline support going forward. probably a dumb question and i should limit my search to win 7 machines, but thought I would ask the experts.

You will need to buy a separate copy of Windows 7.

For what it is worth, I used my Dell CD for Windows7 (from my Studio XPS) since I couldn't find the Latitude Vista CD. It didn't even ask for a CD key and automatically activated via the BIOS. I had discounted keys from school I was going to use, but it did not even give me the opportunity to enter them.

The dell install disks will work without a key, but running an os without a valid license is illegal.

Thanks for the replies. I thought this was the case, but wanted to double check. i'll just look at the win 7 machines.
