    Hola friends,

I have an e4300 with 4 gigs of ram and Win7. I recently downloaded the latest Windows Update as prompted by the OS, and now I'm having an issue where everytime I start the computer it asks me to set the page file size. It's always listed as 0 megs. So, I got to reset it using the box marked managed by the system, and when I restart the same thing happens. So instead I chose a custom size 1.5xRam for lower limit, 3x ram for higher limit, and still eveytime I restart it gives me an automatic pop-up telling me my page file is set to zero.

Now everytime I put the computer to sleep, it has trouble waking back up, and when it does all of the programs crash and have have to use the power button for a hard reboot.

Any idea why this is happening?

Sounds like Windows Update broke your computer... try System Restoring to a time before said updates or manually remove the patches installed during said update.

I would manually set the page file to zero, then reboot. Then check that the pagefile.sys file (normally in the root of C:) has disappeared (if not delete it) then change the pagefile size back to normal and reboot again. Also check that you have enough spare space on C:.

Turn the pagefile off, set, reboot and play with it for a sec....

Go back and then set it again to automatically control its size and you should be ok to tweak it as you choose once again.

I don't use Pagefile at all and havent for a few years now. Although I am not a heavy gamer, I am a power user and do alot of beching...never even once had a problem or came close to not having enough memory...with 4Gb ram.
