    Hello,

I am trying to get orange on my M6600. I always wanted to own a covet M6500, and Dell does not offer it in the new line ups, so I guess I need to get things done with my own hands.

I have been searching for colors that were similar. And came upon this:
Amazon.com: Auto-Air 4338 Metallic Burnt Orange Airbrush Paint 4oz bottle: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

Though I am concerned that it may look too reflected after painted. There is youtube video demonstrating how glossy it will be.

Anyone have any suggestion with what paint I can use? I will be more than glad to take the risk and try painting. But I cant really do that until I find the right paint!

I'm afraid I don't have any input but I'd love to see the result once you are done.

I need to find a paint that is not so glossy if you know what i mean. I need it to be like the metalic finish like the nebula red of M17x or just the original covet system.

If anyone can help me find the paint, I can share the results with the forum. I do not have much experience with painting. The only job I have done was in a shop class in 8th grade. So any suggestion for the process will be appreciated. I have looked closely at the M17x painted in green.

Well have a look at this review

BINDERS ART BLOG: Montana Gold Spray Paint Review by Em Kempf

She says ' It's true to the color on the cap and to the sheen (a soft satin usually, unless you have a metallic or a fluorescent).'

Other than that its really hard to judge a color on a srceen because there are just too many variables.
But i would make sure to check the color on another object with a similar surface first.

    Quick note:
I've never painted/sprayed with this color so thats just what i could come op by googleing

If you want a correct colour match I would take it to a spray shop that matches paints.

When I had my car done they put a little device on a body panel and it gave them the correct paint code.

Would require you to have a Covet part to match the colour but that would be easy from ebay.

I am fairly sure the Covet is anodized aluminum. Your best bet would likely be to send it off and have it anodized.

what would be the difference between simple paint on vs. anodized aluminum? I know that there is distinct texture.

Anodizing would be the only sure way to replicate the Covet orange - if you knew what the materials and amounts were.

Painting gives you a different finish, but gives a better chance of getting the color right the first time.
