Very interesting thread, I never bothered to bench my M4400 and it's running on 64bit Ultimate :(

So I'm curious, how do you run OpenGL in 32bit mode?

Wrong. For example, my laptop when it had a 32-bit Vista had this maximum array size under MATLAB (just type "memory" into MATLAB's command prompt):

The very same system, now with a 64-bit Vista:

The maximum array size is almost ten times bigger. That's no small gain...

ok, you win that (didnt have to be so condesending about it though =P)

however, not many programs need or can even utilize a single slab of ram THAT large. The max possible arrray is "the size of the largest contiguous free memory block". Most programs write to several smaller blocks and wont need one that large. Therefore, I reitterate my point that, it's not that big of a deal(UNLESS you need large block of ram). So it depends on what you're doing(as always)

    Hi guys,

On a side note, yesterday nVidia released their 186.81 WHQL drivers for QuadroFX cards running Windows 7 x64. It's the latest official release that isn't in beta.

    Kind regards,

    Jonty

Sorry, that wasn't my intention. I was on a 15-min break for a meeting and didn't have much time to type :) I guess it did sound patronizing. Sorry about that.

Yes, definitely. I didn't note any difference in performance at all on games, even on America's Army 3 which usually goes up to 1 GB of RAM after a while. But for my uses in MATLAB 64-bit is a godsend.

I just downloaded the drivers and will give them a go after work today. Will post the results when I get a chance. (although I'm not holding my breath for any significant changes...)

hmmm...to be honest i didn't run them with the new drivers...will try that now

    edit:
Ah you're right...i got 4717 now and 4700 last time i tested. Both on 64bit OS's....and running the 64bit cinebench version.
as for 64bit only giving you more RAM, that's nonsense, if you use apps which are written to make use of the 64bit architecture it matters a great deal.

Do you know if there are drivers for FX770 with Open GL 3.2 support.?
