Power adaptor?

    The power connector that you have is a grounded one, for very good reasons. To avoid problems, get the power cord from Dell or find a grounded adapter, which is quite hard to find. While you are at it, consider buying additional power cords for the European mainland, if you plan to travel in Europe at all.

    Thanks for the recommendations.

    The power cord seems a bit difficult to get from dell. At least on this side of the world. The Dell rep. looked at the voltages and told me to just get an adaptor, downside is that it may take twice as long to charge the battery.

    I don't think I'll be taking my laptop with me when travelling in Europe but I'll keep that in mind!

    Your AC adapter will work fine on 240V, the only thing you need is the hardware to rearrange the pins - an adapter for your US plug, or a new AC cable. Charging the battery won't be affected, you're still operating within spec.
