I'm trading up notebooks and was planning on giving my old Precision M65 over to my little brother, but after a short period of no use (family vacation) the battery charger doesn't seem to power the notebook any more (the chargers green light goes out when connected to the notebook). Already tested a alternative battery charger and has the same effect.

Does any one here know of this issue and knows if there's any way to fix it?

If the light on the charger's going out, there is almost certainly a short on the motherboard. This is, of course, generally indicative of a board-level failure that probably requires said part to be replaced.

In short, call up Dell if you're under warranty, but if not, a new motherboard might not be an economic fix... I see working boards going for about $100 to $150 on eBay.

Yep, mine just drop out of the warranty, most things these day start acting up when the warranty runs out.

How do I search for a motherboard that might fit the m65?

    And thanks for the response.

Search Ebay for it, just type in Dell M65 motherboard. The Precision M65 is the same system as the Latitude D820, so you can also search for a D820 motherboard as those are more common (and may be cheaper). Just keep in mind that D820's are available with integrated or discrete graphics...I would go with integrated graphics unless the system will be used for gaming.
