Can anyone recommend a quality backpack that is a good fit for this laptop that offers good protection and also has room for the basics (power supply, extra battery, mouse, external drive, and etc.). Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for the same. Must also double as a decent day pack with enough smart cubic inches for gear, food, and layers, at least 2100+. There are many packs that will hold 14-15" notebooks well enough, but most are too small and are poorly designed... useless clutter features, small guage zippers, and dumb colors. The North Face Recon comes close, but is on the small side. The REI Acumen is good in size and overall function, except no exterior mesh cage, small zipper guage with no rain flaps, and its recycled fabric texture is not right for shedding water, soil, and debris.

I've got a couple of Swissgear bags in my collection. They are light, well padded and have lots of useful pockets.

First I bought the sleeve mentioned here, then hunted around until I found the perfect packpack for it : here.

The laptop slides into the backpack from the side, you can see the long zipper in the photos going top to bottom, and the case is a nice tight fit in the packpack.

I can't imagine a better setup. I carry my books and laptop around on my back all day and it's comfortable. With the partially rigid case and the padding of the backpack I could probably drop the works from a fair height without doing any damage.

The backpack comes in a bunch of different colours.

The case with its one rigid side is great as a platform on you lap which permits the air to circulate properly and keeps the heat off you.

I've been using a Slappa backpack for awhile now, at first I thought I'd just shove the laptop into the padded pocket...but you really still need at least a lightweight sleeve for the acutal laptop. So, something to keep in mind.

That looks like a good setup! The table top sleeve may offer more utility vs. the Dell soft neoprene sleeve, which I have.

I saw that pack in the store... too small for my needs and I'm not sure the side access is an improvement over top access... requires a dedicated zipper.

I have an InCase backpack and I love it. Had a dell brand one and it was very minimal but the Incase bag I got fits laptops up to 17'', has a ton of pockets and waist strap plus chest strap, very comfy very adjustable.

    Cheers!
