Does the Latitude E6520 just not come with a BluRay Drive? It's a bit odd for a laptop to not have BluRay as an option, especially when they offer a FHD screen, right? Just wondering because I wanted to get my father the Latitude for Father's Day/His B-Day, and he loves films, I may have to look for another laptop then...

Look at the HP DV6t. You can get it with FHD + BluRay for $819. It's the cheapest (SandyBridge) laptop I've found with both of these.

HP Official Store — Buy and Customize your dv6 and dv6t series PC direct from HP

    Coupon: SAVE30HP

You could also consider the Dell XPS 15 with the 1920x1080 B+RG display (never skip the screen upgrade on the XPS 15) + BluRay. It can be had for $949 in that config (Coupon: 932N$0ZCCHWZB9)

Of course the build quality of either of these won't be quite as good as the Latitude, but this Blu-ray drive appears to be compatible with the E6520 if you want to go that route:

I would getting an aftermarket 12.5mm height optical drive. The connectors for the bracket are pretty much standard, only thing would be the bezel for the ODD. You could also consider an external Blu-ray drive.

Business laptops have no need for Blu-ray drive really. FHD is to compensate for death of WUXGA on 15.x" notebooks.

But yet it still doesn't quite succeed :D
2048x1152 would be make for a better "compensation"

I was thinking about the E-Modular Bay that comes with the HDD, I could possibly use a blu-ray pata drive, couldn't I? Just wondering. Thanks for the input man, I appreciate it. I still can't believe WUXGA is dead, I just upgraded to my laptop screen resolution to that on my Inspiron 1520, it seems that 16:10 is really being weeded out.
Well, that would be great if my fathers old laptop (HP) didn't die on him. The motherboard burned out and honestly, it's been that way for the last two months. I want to get him something worth it and the Dell XPS 15 is a great laptop but I prefer getting him a business-line laptop like the E6520 just because of the extra features it's design offers as opposed to the XPS. Since you own the Precision, what are your thoughts on that laptop? I was looking at that too but it seemed way too pricey, as my dad will use it mostly for work but it needs to be durable as he works in the automotive industry.

PATA drives won't work on any new machine since they all only have SATA now. And yes 16:10 is dead in pretty much all laptops except the Apple MBP.

If you don't move around Precisions alot, then they are good as desktop replacements. Unfortunately even the 17" has fallen victim to 16:9 with the M6600, and the 15" M4X00 fell victim when the M4500 came out. You could take a look at Dell's Outlet.

As sgogeta4 has stated, pretty much after Montevina in 2008, almost all optical drives were SATA. Even the 299 eMachines have SATA optical drives.

Gotcha, thanks guys, honestyl since the death of 16:10, I don't think I want to get a new laptop anymore. For my dad I think he should be fine with a 1600x900 or even the FHD resolution. I feel pretty ty giving up 120 pixels. Wish they would at least give it as an option...

None of the Dell Latitude x20 series offer Blu Ray. You can use legacy eSATA Blu Ray drives on them however.

The E6520 like its predecessors use 9.5mm optical drives
