I've decided to replace the 7200rpm Seagate hard drive with a 128GB Samsung 830 Series SSD on my trusty old E6400. The only question I have is whether I need a drive spacer to properly secure the 7mm SSD in the the 9.5mm hard drive slot??? Or will the drive work once the bezel is attached despite the slight difference in thickness?

If anyone has upgraded their Latitude or similar to an SSD, how did you handle this? Thanks!!!

If I'm interpreting this question correctly: you can use a 7mm drive in the E6400 without any modifications.

Thanks...that was my question! I was a bit confused because they offer just the Samsung 830 Series drive AND it also comes in a 'Notebook Upgrade Kit' version for about $30 more. The 'kit' includes Norton Ghost (don't need or want to use it), some stupid game and a 'spacer' for the drive, if needed. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pay $30 just to get the spacer, so I'm glad that I just need the drive. I just ordered it for $143.99 delivered from Newegg!
