I have a Precision m4500 that has a quirky trackpoint. When I'm moving the cursor across the screen and go over an open dialog box the cursor will slow way down. It barely moves regardless of the amount of pressure put on the trackpoint. It also does this if a page has a lot of links in it or in a drop-down menu. Seems like anytime you encounter something on a page that can be clicked it affects the cursor speed. Moving across the desktop or an open application it goes fine, no sluggishness.

Using the mouse pad does not exhibit this problem but I really dislike the pad.
I've updated to the latest drivers on Dell's site but no help.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Rut

Long story short, the Dell trackpoint kind of sucks.

That's about all there is to it. If you have the Dell drivers installed, you can adjust the sensitivity, and it definitely helps, but don't expect a ThinkPad trackpoint...
