I've noticed some new entries on Dell's driver page under SATA Drivers.

The Intel Matrix Storage Manager hasn't changed, but they've added "Intel - Driver: Rapid Storage Technology (AHCI)."

Is this something that only concerns RAID setups or is this meant to replace the Matrix Storage Manager?

That's just a rebranding of the Matrix Storage stuff.

I've tried it and it can cause latency spikes so I uninstalled it. I don't think the storage software is necessary for must users. Just stick to the basic AHCI driver.
