hello everyone. i was very excited to order a dell vostro 1520 online, and i got a great deal on it. i ordered the laptop on the 14th of this month, and according to the email they sent me, it was supposed to be delivered by the 30th... which is pretty late but since i was getting a pretty good deal IMO, i thought "whatever, as long as its here before may 4th".
however, earlier today i got a call from dell telling me that they wont be able to build the laptop since they dont make them anymore.... ??? couldnt they have told me this EARLIER like say, LAST WEEK?
the dell vostro 1520 is STILL listed on their website (dell.com and click on small business) along with many other laptops. i dont know what to do at this point. obviously i will have to order another laptop, and it will come VERY late according to my schedules and time constraints... but which dell laptop can i order and which shouldnt i even bother with since they dont build it anymore and apparently are too lazy to update the website?

Sorry to hear that but are a few good deals (Previously Ordered New) at the Outlet store on Vostro 1520's. I saw a nicely spec'd 1520 for $499. And if you look in the Deals thread you might be able to apply a coupon to bring down the cost even further. :)

edit: They could go fast so if you want one you'll need to buy one ASAP.

It sounds like they are trying to get out of sending you a laptop that you got too good of a deal on, if you get my drift.

I'd call in and press them that Dell accepted your earlier order, Dell still advertises the notebook as available on their website, and give them one more chance to live up to their end of the sale before you take your business elsewhere.

Yeah I thought that too, because I pretty much had built really high end laptop but it was all under $700 including taxes and shipping.

One thing I've learned about Dell is they'll pretty much tell you to stick it in your ear.....good luck.

I'm sorry to hear that. It is strange that they couldn't deliver it to you though, since I ordered the Vostro 1520 on April 19, 2010, and received it a few days ago. I'm in Canada though. Gotta agree with you that they were giving good value for it (specs I ordered cost me $629). When I ordered it, they still had the 1520 on the website, but it looks like it's not there anymore. And yes, the Dell Outlet stuff is refurbished.
