    G'day,
On a few seperate occasions I notice when I close the lid on my laptop (in sig), and open it back up again, there is nothing on the screen - its black, and requires a hard reset to get it back. It is not set to do anything when it's closed - but I just found the "turn display off after 5 mins" thing, so will see if it does anything after I turned that off. Other then that, any other ideas? It never happened under XP.

    Cheers.

It's most likely a bug with the handling of resume from the S3 sleep state. It's similar to the problem described here.

I assume that you are running the newest BIOS. Get the newest graphics driver from the manufacturer if not available from Dell.

I have this problem in Vista and Win7 when I leave my laptop on, lid close, when I have an external monitor attached to it (but the monitor is off - well different source to be technical), for several hours. It's very rare this occurs. I am sure it's some Windows or display driver bug. I have the Nvidia solution.
