After attaching my Sansui receiver to my new e6410 i noticed that Skype causes to audio to stop; switch to the internal speakers for an alert message and then switch back to the external speakers

is there any way to stop this?

This is an issue on Skype's end. Been there before, and I think it's something like Options > Audio Settings > tell it not to adjust microphone/speaker settings automatically. See if that works...
