I'm thinking about putting in a OCZ 60GB Vertez drive into my new E5400 when it arrives next week. Are their any known problems with SSD drives in the E5400 laptops? Also does installing one of these increase battery life?

    Thanks

Seeing as they work fine on the rest of the E-Series... I wouldn't imagine there to be any problems with the E5400. Depending on the HDD you're replacing, battery life gains should be minimal to significant.

At least in my E6400, the runtime difference between an old 120GB, 7200RPM spinner (this was not, however, the stock HDD) and the 80GB X-25M is almost an hour.

I have no reason to think you will encounter any compatibility problems.

I reckon that the Samsung PB22-J provides about an extra 10% run time compared with a Hitachi 5k500.B. However, there are significant variations in power consumption between different SSDs. See the Tom's Hardware SSD charts.

I went ahead and got the Intel 80GB G2 for $240 shipped. I got it from Provantage.com Not a bad price. The Vertex 60GB was about $220 shipped. So got $20 more you get what is supposed to be the best SSD drive you can get.
