I love my new-old D430. I like the keyboard almost as well as the Lenovos and the form factor is perfect. I know it may not be a good idea to invest a lot of money in it, but indulge me.

I ordered a Samsung 120GB 5400rpm drive to replace the 4200rpm drive. I got a good deal on a 64GB Runcore pro IV SSD and also got that. The SSD is $40.00 more. I'm going to use one and sell the other. I'm using XP and have a legit copy of Windows 7. I'd prefer to stay with XP only because I spent a day fixing it up.

Which one would you stay with?

Well I would stick with the SSD and windows 7 (considering windows 7 has TRIM (if supported) which would preserve the life/performance of the SSD)

But more than likely your mobo would be a bottleneck if it's below a SATAII interface nevertheless you would see a huge performance bump with Win 7 and SDD

I was leaning that way. Thanks.
