    1. I installed XP and everything seems ok but the computer doesnt want to suspend. When I click the power button (which is setup for suspend) or try to suspend any other way (like shutting the lid) the system will shut down but will come back online after about a minute or so. It doesnt want to go to sleep! Bad Boy. I have noticed that if I take off the power cord, it will go into suspend and stay there properly. I have tried two different power adapters, so I dont think its adapter-related. Any ideas?! Its really annoying to have to totally shut down every time. I've tried disabling settings and hardware in the bios to no avail. I have DCP installed.
    2. I want to upgrade my WiFi link card to a wireless-n version. I guess this is the wifi link 5300 card. I actually bought one but its full height (533AN_MMW), so now I have to go an get the half height version (model 5333AN_HMW, right?!). One issue though, I dont know if my laptop has a third antenna cord in there for the third leg of the antennas. Can I add one?! BTW, I am using a wireless N Dlink router.

Will this one work in my e6400?http://www.provantage.com/intel-533an-hmwg2~7ITE90CT.htm I'm a little nervous about it because of the "G2" at the end of the model #, and the website says its for the centrino and I have a latitude.

Thanks for any help! I'm really frustrated!

1.Uninstall the Creative webcam driver and see if suspend works OK. If OK then dig out the previous driver and install that.

    2. The E6400 chassis is pre-wired for all the possible hardware options.

Although John Ratsey says it is wired for all configurations, if it weren't I've heard of other people wiring an antenna through the keyboard.

ok I do have the 5100. why is the 5300 better? my dlink router does have three antennas. I normally only connect around 117Mbps. Is that good for n? I dont mind paying $45 if it makes me faster. I watch large video files.

I dont have a camera so I dont have the creative drivers installed (unless that tiny hole near the top of the monitor is a camera?! I dont have any "?" in my control panel-> system list). Any other ideas why suspend may not work?!

See Intel for a comparison of the two wireless cards. In theory, the 5300 can provide more throughput but first see if the 5100 is too slow for you.

OK, no webcam. Then it is time to do some detective work. Is your XP an up-to-date XP SP3 or some older version? There were various sleep issues with the older XPs so make sure you are up-to-date.

Then look in the system log for Event Viewer (under computer management). What events are logged at the time you try to suspend the computer?

the video seems to be chunky, so I think I could benefit from a higher transmission speed. Is 117Mbps normal for wireless n? Isnt it supposed to be 300 or something?!

My xp is a new install and all updates (incl sp3) are done.

    I'll check the log tonight.

FWIW I installed win7 and the videos seem to play better and I dont have my suspend issue anymore!

Win7 is sort of a joke though. Whats different from vista again!? Pretty backgrounds?
