Hi, I have an Dell M 65 which is work fine with winXP 64 bit. But when I rebuilt it with a fresh installation of win7 ultimate 64 bit, the machine keep shut down unexpectedly after an hour of use. I checked everything, cleaning the vent, and the fan is working fine. Does anyone have the same problem that I am having. Any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did you use all Dell.com Win7 x64 device drivers and install in prescribed order? What's the nature of the shutdown? Any clues?

Thanks for your reply. It turned out to be the NVIDIA driver problem. When i update window 7 , it download the NVIDIA driver from window update website which cause the machine shut down when the sreen saver program starts running. So I download the NVIDIA graphic driver from Dell support website, installed it and that fixed the problem.

Ah, yes, it is wise to not do wholesale automatic Microsoft Updates. Every now and then there are device drivers or technology platforms you know you don't need or want, and that should be hidden to avoid.
