I bought the Dell V13 SU3500. Upgraded the RAM to 4gb and installed a SSD. The thing is pretty fast but the fan made too much noise. It’s been 3 days now since I opened up the computer and unplugged the fan. The thing is totally silent and I'm getting around 4 hours of surfing per charge. It runs around 44-49C and when I watch a video for a while it runs at 50-55C. I’m not an expert but I think that’s a safe temperature. Am I wrong?

About 130F would be fine. However, it still wouldn't be recommended to unplug the fan...the lower the temperatures, the longer the life of the components.

130F = 55C so you're saying I'm nearing the max or would 70C (158F) still be ok? From reviews I've read in the past it seems like laptops usually run much hotter. Due to the fact the SU3500 only uses 5.5W of power I think the v13 can run so 'cool' without a fan running. I'd imagine the SU7300 would overheat. I definitely would not try this with the v130.

158F would be fairly warm, but should still be OK. Was the fan continuously running on low speed? You might want to apply some Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease to further lower temperatures (then the BIOS won't turn the fan on as often).

Could you list your ambient room temperatures? Without listing it, your temperatures don't mean anything.

My SU7300 in my Latitude 13, with 22.5C ambient, is like 19 idle, load doesn't go above 46, and that's twice the TDP of the SU3500. Also the IGP stays fairly cool. My fan isn't audible until I play HD Youtube or run Flash stuff in a browser.

My v13 never ran as cool as your Latitude 13 even with the fan on.

Well then perhaps Dell did not paste your V13 correctly. You could try doing it yourself or getting a technician to go to your house if you got the onsite service.
