Is there any news of upcoming E series releases? Particularly for the 14 or 15 inch latitudes?

Looking at other posts in the forum it seems that the current models were released last March. Do you think there will be a March update again this year?

I'm not in desperate need for a new machine - but I don't think I can wait much more than 3 months. So if a e6530 was to appear by March I'd happily wait for it - and hopefully it will have onboard USB3.

    Any tips or 'best guesses'?

    Thanks

They'll probably come out when Ivy Bridge is released for mobile.

Most likely, the exterior will be similar to the e6520. Dell has a habit of reusing near-identical chassi (chassises?) for two generations on their Latitudes, with minor changes (but major changes in internals):
-D600 and D610 were pretty similar
-D620 and D630 were almost identical exterior wise (D630 added Firewire)
-E6400 and E6410 were almost identical (E6410 had a silver lid vs black on E6400, other minor exterior changes)

All those examples are with the 14 inch ones though. It's still pretty similar for 15".

If the people at Dell have any brains, they'd be pushing the E6430/E6530 more towards the Precision m4600 design, instead of the ugly E6420/E6520 that alienated a lot of buyers.

I believe E6410 improved on the hinges over the E6400. My E6410 felt much studier than my E6400.

It's true that this newest reincarnation of E series Latitude put off alot of non-government/contract buyers, but they were selling like hotcakes for contract buyers/corporate accounts. My mom just switched jobs and they issued her a E6420. The looks are ghastly, but it is lighter than the E6400 she previously had, but it is bulkier and I believe more plastic to keep the weight down..

Yes, although looks isn't the reason I've not already bought one... they new looks is pretty bad. I agree Pitz, moving towards the look of the Precision would be great.
