I have Dell Latitude D520 laptop (currently have 512 MB RAM). I'm upgrading the memory to the notebook using Corsair 1GB memory module. Parts number for the module is CMR1G667S.

The problem is when I installed the memory module, my laptop won't boot. All the indicator lights are blinking.

I have checked the Dell website, that this is the correct memory module.

What seems to be the problem?? please help....

    Thank you!

Did you try removing / replacing the module? Sometimes it takes a little practice to get it seated properly. Did you try replacing the original module.

Crucial shows that the D520 has the Intel 945GM chipset that can handle modules of up to 2GB. In my experience the Intel chipsets are very tolerant of different brands of RAM so either the module is defective (I see that it is "used" - did the seller claim that it is in good working order) or isn't installed correctly. I once had the problem of a module getting damaged in the post although I thought it was well wrapped up.

This happened with a mates Acer, it turns out it was the RAM slot itself, as when seating it in the other slot, worked perfectly.

I think I got a defective memory module. When I made it worked by updating my bios, my Windows XP froze many many times.

So It has to be the memory module is bad.
