usb mouse driver messed up

    today for some reason,my dell vostro1700-xp with mouse attached to bottem right hand side.usb port stopped working.

    everytime i plug it in now it starts out ok working-then the mouse stops working all together within 1 min after plug it in

    states in the little bubble
    usb is not recoognized,windows does notrecognize it,one of the usb malfunctioned

    did i lose usb ports ?

    Same on E6500 Win7. Look at the energy-settings. There is a point where you can choose USB-energy saving. Turn it off!

    Or another mouse or USB device in the suspect port?

    sorry guys swapped out mice---the mouse is bad

    got a new mouse
