hopefully I'm post at the right place in the forum my question:

My Vostro 1220 was shipped with 4cell battery (P649N with 4cell, 14.8V, 32Wh) but there is also a big one available (N887N with 6cell, 11.1V, about 60Wh). Both are refered in the technical specification - with different Voltage !

Could I replace just replace my 4cell/14.8V with a 6cell/11.1V from free market ? Altough the different Voltage ? Does someone use both the 4cell and the 6cell in a Vostro1220?

    many thanks

I don't trust a non OEM battery. Buy them from Dell.

    1.
Get a genuine Dell battery from an ebay supplier with good feedback. The prices are much better than buying from Dell directly.

    2. The different voltages reflect the different cell configurations. 14.4V is 4 x 3.7V cells in series while 11.1V is 3 x 3.7V cells in series (with 2 sets in parallel to make up the 6 cells).

many thanks for the prompt answers
....I already ordered the 60wh, but the online store was asking about the Voltage etc. and thought that only 14.4V would fit and not the 11.1V too. I will see what they ship now.
