    Hi,

Looking into a simple and fast laptop for general use, and mobile music production (nothing pro, just a hobby). Thinking of the following:

    13" Vostro 1320
    2.53Ghz 1066Mhz
    4Gb 800Mhz
    320Gb 7,200rpm
    256Mb Geforce 9300M
    Cherry Red
    6 Cell Battery
    Fingerprint Reader
Wifi Intel 5300 Half Mini Card

I know nothing about the vostro range. I like clean and to the point laptops, so its simple design is nice. Good price. Am I missing anything?

    Thanks

The Vostro line is pretty basic, sturdy and no frills. Good pricing going on right now, some models up to 40% (better than can be had with the 35% coupon right now) at least on the 1320 page that I brought up:

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...z&c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&kc=laptop-vostro-1320

Depending on how many options you add up, the 35% off coupon may end up saving you more as the discount is fixed on Dell's page.

I've been very happy with our Vostro 1500 that we've had for the last two years (still works great, just did a wipe and reinstall as my wife sold it to a friend). Just ordered (and received) our new 1720 and it is quite nice as well, with great bang-for-the-buck.

Sorry, they do not have a dedicated docking port like the latitude line.

Cherry Red is quite nice. That's what our 1720 color is!

Cool. Went for the latitude instead, nicer finish.

The 1720 was a breeze to wipe and do a fresh Vista install on. With a 'non-bloat' fresh copy of Vista, and the tweaks that I use from the Vista Tweak guide it boots to useable desktop in under 30 seconds (no HDD churning). Seems even more solid than the Vostro 1500 that it is replacing and love the dedicated keypad.

I have the 1280x800 LED backlight screen (matte) and the X4500 graphics so for what it is used for (office docs, email, budgeting, etc.) it works just peachy and is noticably faster than my M1330 at some tasks.

    Hi

I have a new Vostro 1320, and just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit

What I cant seem to get is a version of Quickset to go with this... I dont have any feedback on volume or screen brightness as in my other Inspirons, XPS, or Latitudes.

Where can I find a 64 bit version of Quickset for Win7 for my vostro?
