    Hi everybody !
I'm from Viet Nam. I have a Vostro 1400 laptop, the VGA chip has broken many times, now it cant be repaired. I must replace the motherboard.
I took it to a laptop service shop. The shop owner said that he will order an original motherboard from Dell and he must send the old motherboard back to dell to reduce the price. He call that is " exchange motherboard ".
Is that real or he's going to trick me?
Do you guys have any experiences about this ?

If the guy's just buying the motherboard straight up from Dell, he shouldn't need to send back anything. I don't think Dell will give him a discount for sending something back, either.

That being said, he probably wants your old board to repair or resell; nothing wrong with that if it lowers the total cost you have to pay for the repair.
