    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to connect my Vostro 1500 to a Philips 32PFL7562D, however it doesn't have a VGA port. I know I can't do VGA-HDMI, or VGA-Component (I think my card doesnt support the correct output?), but I'd really like to have HD if possible. I'm in the UK and dell uk doesnt seem to offer any kind of converter/cable. Is there an option I haven't thought of yet?

    Thanks

Here's the first promising result I found from a Google search for "VGA to HDMI": http://sewelldirect.com/articles/vga-to-hdmi.aspx

I can easily output 1920×1080 (HD Video) over a VGA output, so I don't see this being a major limitation...

I'm pretty sure that such a converter is going to be your only option. In terms of "efficiency", there are many such converters available, and they're surely not all created equal. I'd suggest reading the reviews on any converter before you purchase.

Do your research and planning before buying your TV and laptop!
Don't you check what ports they have before you buy? Don't you think out what video source you are going to connect to your TV? or what kind of output you need when choosing a laptop?

ok I found the solution, however there's a problem; I need to buy the "Dell S-video to component video and SPDIF adapter" from somewhere, but I only see it being sold in the US/CA! The current (unique!) ebay seller doesn't ship it to the UK, argh. Would any other similar cable work or do I need the dell one specifically?
    Thanks again for your help

Does your laptop has S-video output?

Even if it does, the video quality will be crappy. You can't get anything better than 480i.

So try to find a VGA->HDMI or VGA-Component solution.
