My Vostro 1520 that was purchased in Mid March 2010 gave me a battery failure error 19 days out of warranty. I contacted Dell with no resolution, didn't expect one but had to try. Contacted my Discovercard Extended Warranty Division and gathered all documents they needed. One was a statement from a repair facility that the battery was bad. Battery's Plus now has an analyzer for laptop battery's. They checked it with the results being the battery has failed. I received my payment from the warranty company and purchased a replacement from Battery's Plus, as they helped me complete my claim. The replacement is at least recognized as being in the system, but I receive " battery can not be identified, battery will not be charged" press F1 to continue, F5 for diagnostics.

I have the latest A08 Bios installed.

The system will run from the battery, but no charging.

Thanks, I have come here for resolutions in the past, but have had no reason to post.

You had a battery failure and now have a battery compatibility issue. My advice is to try and get your money back from Battery Plus and buy a battery designed for the 1520.

    9cell Battery f Dell Vostro 1510 1520 N956C T114C T116C | eBay

This battery comes with a 3 year warranty and is designed to work on the 1510 and 1520. The cost is $34.95 with free shipping ! :)

Dell is pretty picky about non-OEM Dell parts being used (batteries/chargers).

Yes I would avoid 3rd party batteries completely.

I have ordered a "Dell" battery from Ebay, it should be here in in 2 days or so. The manager of Battery's Plus did not believe me that the battery wouldn't charge, I told him to keep my battery in hand, when I get the Dell battery I will stop by with the laptop and let him try each battery himself. :)

Just arrived home, placed "Ebay" battery in and it immediately started charging. Battery indicator led is steady blue, even after a re-boot. :D

    Thanks!
