All white backgrounds on my web pages have a slight bluest tint color to them. It is most noticeable when I work on another computer and then turn to the 3300 to work. I have tried adjusting the brightness and contrast, but no real change. Dell provided me another 3300 as an exchange, but it has hard drive and fan isuues...however, the LCD is much nicer.
What gives, what causes the LCD to have this bluest tint?
I have thought about swapping the LCD's between the two 3300's, but after looking at the manual it looks like I have about got to dissemble the entire laptop. TIA

What make is the display (you can figure this out from the hardware ID). From my limited experience the LG displays tend towards a blue tint while the Samsungs tend towards yellow. You may be able to fix this using Windows 7 Calibrate tool (Start > Run > Calibrate).

I tried the calibrate and went up on the brightness a tad..still bluest. I have a 3300 here I am returning with a better screen, but it looks like a job to try and pull it off.

Device Manager > Monitors > Generic PnP Monitor > Properties > Details then look at the second entry on the list (Hardware IDs).

    thats what i did.

Generic PnP Monitor. , then right click just says ... Manufacturer(standard monitor types). That's all they give you. No name.

It doesn't explicitly give the name but the Hardware ID has a 3 letter + 4 number code eg LGD0442.

The LG means LG. Samsung displays are SAM or SEC, AOU is AUO, etc.

Ok... here is what I have... went to the details tab.
On the one with the bluest tint to the background it is: MONITOR\AUO112C
On the one with (IMO) the nicer screen, more white: MONITOR\CPT17D4

Appreciate your help...now what do you know about these? Thanks.

    Thanks for the codes.

AUO is AU Optronics. I recall this was one of the WXGA+ options for the E6400 and was considered to be a good panel.

CPT is Chunghwa Picture Tubes. The only time I've had one of those displays is on a Samsung NC10. It was a good panel.

However, the quality of last year's products is no guide to the quality of the current production. Manufacturing processes are progressively refined (usually to lower costs and increase yields). It looks like AUO is saving a bit by using slightly blue LEDs on the backlighting. Most users won't notice. It's the side-by-side comparisons which reveal the differences in the colour balance.

Thanks John. I am tempted to switch the units, but looking at the manual, it looks a bit involved just getting it done. Your thoughts?
