    Hello world!

I bought this notebook about a year ago, and had been using it with quite a lot of joy... until recently.

It has 2 different display adaptors; a Nvidia 310M and an Intel HD graphics. Because the computer is prone to overheating, i usually use the Intel counterpart, but recently that one started to give a contrast problem, the screen is hard to look at with all the white parts shining and getting into your eyes.

There is no problem when i turn the Nvidia part on, screen turns to normal, but i don't want the use it this way, as the computer overheats. I actually burned a finger the other day.

Does anyone have any clue about what is going on? I looked at the drivers, they are the original ones, not updated since i bought the computer.

Note: I tried to take a screenshot of the problem, but printscreen is normal when i paste it lol

    Hi

    I have a similar problem.
I also have a Vostro 3300 with both Intel HD and Nvidia 310M. However, I never noticed any overheating when the Nvidia is on.

But I have this contrast problem, only I have it with both graphic cards ... I found that the colors are generally pretty bad (like always !), and not comfortable at all when you spend your day working on the laptop (if I read too much, I am sure to get headaches).

However, I found two little tricks that help : I use Windows 7 (I don't know about you), and in the control panel, search for colors management. Here you have a little screen calibration procedure, where you can lower the gamma (I didn't find any other way to do it), and along with a little reduction of brightness, it becomes more comfortable.

Also, I sometimes (and apparently randomly !) have really excessive colors, really painful for the eyes, almost fluorescent. Then I close my session, re-open it, and the colors return to normal ...

Hope that helps, and please give me your tricks too if you found some in the meanwhile (it's been a few months since your post !).

I really hope that some day laptop and screen maufacturers will pay a little more attention to colors rendering ...

    Cheers
    Ofboir
