On crucial i selected the laptop that i just ordered, Vostro 3350 when searching for compatiable SSD's.

The site recommended many drives, out of which i picked the 256GB M4.
The M4 SSD is 9.5mm thick

I have just viewed a review that says the vostro 3350 only takes a thin 7mm SSD.

Can anyone confirm if crucial are correct or if the review is correct?

If so, why would crucial recommend this drive, other than stupidity?

It should be a standard 9.5mm thickness. Even my Latitude 13 uses a standard 9.5mm HDD. Shows that the 3350 supports 750GB so that has to be 9.5mm. I think some of the Crucial and Intel drives are 9.5mm with the rubber spacers but can be removed to be 7mm form factor.

    Further info.

The Vostro 3350, if configured with a 320 GB disk will have the seagate momentus thin 7mm drive, and so the drive caddy will only hold a 7mm disk drive.

if you order one of the larger disks, which dont come in 7mm form factor you get a standard 9.5mm drive.

Sucks if you just ordered one though. I can confirm i can remove the spacer on my C300 M4,making it 7mm, but I dont have any compatible screws! God Damn Crucial!!!

Will confirm ALL of this once i actually receive the laptop and open it up.

To close this out, I received my vostro 3350 and it came with a standard 9.5mm 350gb thick samsung drive. other folks from different parts of the globe state that they have gotten the laptop and it had a seagate 7mm drive installed, however luckily mine is a bog standard drive and i could just swap over to the SSD.

I went for the 320GB option and received my 3350 with a 9.5mm WD Scorpio Black.

It was quite a relief! I've now swapped it out for an OCZ Vertex 2.
