    Dear all,

I'm planning to upgrade memory on my Vostro 3500 from 3 to 8 Gigs.

I checked the processor (Core i5 430M) at Intel.com and it mentions the memory types as DDR3-800/1066

I ran a system check at Crucial and I was recommended to buy 8GB kits of either DDR3 PC3-8500 or DDR3 PC3-10600

Here's the complete list of recommendations, if need be:

Computer memory upgrades for Dell Vostro 3500 Laptop/Notebook from Crucial.com

I'd like to know which brand of memory would be optimal for Vostro 3500 and which memory type I should choose.

Any comments, insights would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Any 8 GB kit should work. With an Arrandale Core i5, it will only do 1066 natively. 1333 and 1600 will downclock, they will still work but most of the time they cost more money. Brands worth mentioning; Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, GSkill. Any namebrand RAM with a lifetime warranty.

    Thanks for the thoughts, Tsunade.

If both the kits cost the same, which one would you pick, if it were you? It's gonna downclock anyway, but I'm just curious what you'll do.

    I've shortlisted the following:

    Crucial 1066
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001MX5YWI

Corsair 1333 (I wasn't able to find Vostro 3500 under "Memory Finder" in their website). Called them and a rep said that if they didn't mention a laptop model in their site, they don't support it

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YUF8ZG

    Kingston Apple 1066
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001PS9UKW

I have some credits at amazon so I'm stuck with them :(

I'd love to hear your insights when you have a moment.

Thanks again for your quick response..
